Mexi-Ice

My new favorite snack: MEXI-ICE. Have you ever heard of this wonderful stuff? I never had until last night. My friend Laurie and I were out wandering around last night and she decided to clue me in on a world I didn't know existed! :) Excited? yes. You be the judge. Taco Time, Mexi-Ice. Order the large. You won't be disappointed. I am so hooked. I almost made a detour on the way home last night to get another one. I don't even know what it is. Is it ice cream? Is it an icee? Maybe it's both... I will definitely be spending some time getting to the bottom of this mystery.

Laurie is my friend that got married a couple of weekends ago so I was getting the scoop on the whole event and Carmel by the sea, where they spent some time on the honeymoon. I want to go there now! Want to meet me there Heather?
I went to see her new place and help her decorate a little bit. She didn't need my help at all, her style is so fun. We hung up a massive mirror in the hallway that required a trip to the home store, the grocery store and my office as well. Very extensive project right? But it looks fabulous now.

We've always had fun comparing our rooms, especially when we lived together because our tastes are pretty different. The picture of us I included is from when we lived together. Her and Tera have been my favorite roommates of all time. We were always out biking or having fun at home cooking. I liked giving the constant flow of admirers for laur a hard time. That girl got more flowers and love struck guys than you could imagine. Tera even taught me how to rope in the front yard. The picture was taken on one of my last nights living there. We went dancing every weekend and danced we did! Danced our little hearts out. They still tease me about that since I've never been a great dancer but what do I care? I miss my long hair! You can't see it cuz the longer part blends in with my shirt but it was the longest I've ever grown it.

Ok, back from memory lane.... She thinks my style is more eclectic and romantic and I think hers is modern traditional. There is a term for that you know. It's Rococo Vision. She is even in on the latest color that will be making it large on the color palates the next few seasons. GRAY! I love it! I was reading that gray is more elegant than black. Go figure. I love this stuff. I devour all the trade magazines that I get in the mail. It's great hearing about the newest stuff going on. I got totally excited reading about the updates on the Vegas market in July and found an article announcing a Frank Gehry building will be built next door. Sweet. The guy is amazing! It's going to be a brain research facility. Doesn't look too much like the Guggenheim, but you can get an idea of how stinkin cool this building is going to be.

We went to the St. George annual art festival for a little while too. The clouds were getting pretty ominous so the artists weren't taking any chances and started to close up early. We'll go again today. Her husband Rick is a bike cop so he rode down to Main street where the festival is held to eat a hot dog and hang out for a minute with us. After leaving the festival we drove around a bit in the Spring Break crowd watching the teenagers try too hard. We stopped a few times to harass the other bike cops along our way. Laurie drives the nicest mustang ever. The tint is way to dark for utah law, any one else would be fined over and over again. Being IN with the cops has it's perks huh? What would it be like to be untouchable? I tried dropping Ricks name when I got pulled over by my 'friend' and it didn't do me any good at all. Oh Laurie, the charmed life of a cops wife.

TGIF!

Succulents are my latest attempt at gardening. After killing my second batch of daisies I thought I'd go a different route with these bad boys and since my dad drilled some holes into this awesome zen style container for me before he left I thought I'd try my hand at some more indoor fauna. I don't think there is anything wrong with having too many plants right? {It's not the same as having lots of cats right?} My much loved gardenia plant has yet to amaze me. Patience.
I think I've resorted to talking about my plants because I'm burnt out on work. It's friday and after a very long week I have a side job tomorrow so I rather talk about cute little growing things instead of paint and other stuff I normally love.

Add this to my chaos please. Since my last post about my house I was talked in to taking the house off the market and now due to some unpleasant circumstances I'll be signing some papers today to put it back on the market. Just think, I could possibly have sold it already by now!

MAX AND GIBSON GOT ADOPTED!!!!

I got an email today from someone I didn't know and instantly fell in love with her and her pack of dogs. She sounds like the nicest lady ever. Over the weekend she went to some kind of adoption extravaganza in Vegas and was just about to leave when her friend told her she had to come see the sweetest hound dogs ever. My boys!

Prayers are answered in the craziest ways. The picture is unrelated to the story, just part of my day today. I did another painting project today. My life is truly blessed with wonderful people, good work and crazy things to keep my laughing and crying all the same.

Rosco the Rat

Only Monday and I'm already ready for the weekend! I never suffer from the dreaded monday blues but today I was buried by work and things I need to get done so I was feeling a little rushed and a bit more than tired. It's been go go go since I woke up this morning and now it's already 11:26 pm and I don't know what happened to my day! Does it sound like I'm complaining? I'm not. I rather be busy, but I'll like it more when I have some of the stuff tucked away in my accomplished pile instead of looming pile of things to be done.

I missed Cheryl's big day, the second wedding of my wedding season this past weekend. Details as to why I missed it are yet to be released, but I wanted to put up one of my favorite images she had sent me last week anyway because I think she is a beautiful bride.

Signe and I were having our afternoon chat (yes, I'm never too busy for a chat so it couldn't have tooo terribly busy today right?) when our landlord came to visit. After talking about the important things like Burning Flesh Staph Infections and the latest on her never ending leg surgeries, she told us she has sold the building we call our home away from home. I've dreamt of the Lemley's selling because as much as I like shooting the breeze with Sheila and teasing Loyd, the place is too much for them. It wouldn't hurt to get someone new in there to modernize the place so I'm looking forward to hopefully some good changes there.

Signe just got back from a huge week in Vegas and we had much to catch up on. She told me about a new venture they will be working on for the next couple of weeks and asked me to help out. I like being involved with projects they work on since they are very creative and motivated besides being really cool people to be around. I'll write more on that as it evolves. I'm already syked, it's going to rock.

I raced from project to project today so I could make it home as early as possible. I have a little friend staying with me (only for 2 more days, no worries mom and dad) while his family is out of town.

Rosco is a silly dog. I don't understand him really. I guess I'm used to my big dogs who would come to me, for the most part, when called them and weren't in the least bit scared of their own shadows. Rosco cowers in fear if I talk to him the wrong way. I tried to get him to run with me but he's to big of a sissy and had to be carried home after half a block of much panting and crying.
And that is my entry... I'll have better stuff to talk about someday soon I'm sure.

Out of this world

Isn't this photograph amazing? I love it! While I was thinking of what I could write about today I found this picture and it came with some thoughts from the photographer who took it and he pretty much summed up exactly how I was feeling when I went to the temple today, minus the despair, quite opposite actually, but you get the point.

"As you enter this place of holiness, cast aside your earthly cares and lay your worrisome burdens at His feet. Here in His house you will find refuge from the tormenting winds of temptation and the withering heat of worldly pressures. As you immerse your soul in His peace, He will wipe away the tears of despair from your eyes. Your heart will be filled from living fountains of pure waters, and as mortality gently fades, you will, for a moment, embrace the riches of eternity." ~ Kendall Davenport

My drive home tonight was so pretty. It was better than this with the sun hitting the clouds but the time I lost racing to the house for my camera and then back down the street to the golf course made all the difference.

Visitors!

I love visitors! And I have some today even. Grandma and Grandpa stopped in for a visit on their way home from Phoenix this afternoon. Grandma is making her sunday calls and Grandpa is on the bed watching a game. It's nice to have family and tradition isn't it?
We went out to dinner, Grandma and I have been chatting it up while Grandpa takes it easy. When she's done with her calls I plan on some mad games of Rummycube.
My weekend has been really nice. Laurie's wedding was beautiful. At the end of the ceremony she had her first dance with Rick and a dance with her dad too. I've never seen that before. She's always breaking out and doing something fun and new. Circleville is one of my favorite places to visit so I was glad for the excuse to go. One stop light, one tiny gas station and a grill and a bunch of dairy farmers tucked up in the mountains, ever heard of Cache Valley Cheese? They are the farmers creating that yummy stuff. Claim to Fame: Butch Cassidy once had a hideout there. So can you guess the variations of names for the collective grill, gas and store? Butch Cassidy's Hideout. Right you are.
Other than the beautiful drive and wedding fun I've caught up on some sleep and 'puttered' around the house. (I can putter because I live in the right area of retirementville and that's what we do here) I've had a loooong week so all I've wanted to do is relax and that's all I've really done.

My week was full of technical problems at work, computer on the fritz sending our strangely chaotic yet organized system into even more frantic chaos with bids piling up. A power outage due to lack of payment (oops Jana) that made everything come to a halt again. I even got a traffic ticket for the first time in years in the midst of my endless errands of shopping for clients, picking up and dropping off paint samples, etc etc etc. I was relieved when he walked up and I knew him, when he saw me he said, 'oh crap, I know you!' I thought I would breeze my way through this one, but I knew I was out of luck when he called me ma'am, apologized, wrote the ticket and then promptly asked for my number...grief! Like I'm going to give it to him right?!

I've started in with the client I mentioned before, we have paint colors picked out and I'll start doing the decorative finishes next week when I can devote more time to it. I think I'll find someone to subcontract the flat paint stuff because I can't get myself excited about just painting to paint.

Well, Grandma is about done with her calls, I think she is trying to pawn Cooper the Bull Dog off on Brian.. any one know any one who wants a big dog?

Off to school Grandma on the ways of the cube. :) why did we ever start calling it Rummycube anyway?

Wedding Season

It's wedding season, I have one this weekend, another next weekend, a friend in Korea the next week, not that I'm planning on attending that one, and another one the weekend after that.
I made this card for Laurie, hers is the one this weekend, it's in Circleville, I'm so excited for all of them. I like weddings.

And speaking of affairs of the heart.. could you guys help me out with something please? I'd like a few questions that I can ask as I try to get to know Mr. Right, not that I don't already ask a lot of them! I'm sure you'll all come up with some good ones I haven't.

After having so many of the people closest to me admit to thinking I was making a mistake I really want my family to be involoved in my decisions (to a point of course!) I can make up my own mind, I have faith in myself and the Spirit but I also love my support team and value your opinions. So who wants to interview a guy I've found who I really like? I'd love some family feedback! It's pretty funny, I totally 'googled' him because I wanted to make sure he was for real. He is. But far, far away so don't be worried that I'll go off and make any rash decisions! I like to tell myself that the timing isn't the greatest to meet such a cool guy. I'm supposed to be single for forever and be totally miserable for a long time first right? But who can ever say anything about timing? So, any takers on some email interviews?
